Ancient Egyptian Sandal New Kingdom c.1550-1070 BC. Size 7 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches. A Single Ancient Egyptian Sandal. The ancient Egyptians began wearing sandals during the early years of the New Kingdom rule. The sandals used by these people were very simple and were made either by using straw, reeds or leather. The wealthy people wore leather sandals and these lasted for a longer time than the sandals which were made using straw or reeds. Condition: ancient losses as seen in images. Provenance: NYC collection, brought to USA prior to 1948, to present owner by descent. a Copy of detailed Provenance accompanied the purchase of this lot.
