A correspondent of Life magazine en route from Vladivostok to Moscow by the Trans-Siberian Railway. R.E. Lauterbach: This is an apologia for Russia only in the sense that it is a plea for us to examine our own sins as well as Russian. In the course of the text, he is critical on many scores: controlled press, deliberate propaganda methods, failures to measure up to promises made to the people and so on.
