Edward S. Curtis Orotone entitled "Chief of the Desert, Navaho" in original frame with Curtis Studio label on back. Signed lower right. Size of the print itself is 10 by 8 inches. Sold originally in Christie's, Photographs, Parts 1 & II on April 5th and 6th, 1995 as lot 249. The Orotone is housed in its original Curtis Seattle Studio frame with label that reads: "Curtis - Home of the Curtis Indians - At Home and Studio Portraiture - The Curtis Studio - 4th and University, Seattle - Wash., U.S.A." Christie's sale label is also attached. Excellent condition. A copy of the Christie's catalog and receipts are available to the purchaser.
