Splendid Chinese porcelain Huluping vase. Double gourd resemblance, bulbous lower section converging into a lemon-shape midsection and finishing into a slender bottleneck at the top. The bottom forms a substantial ring-base with a flat offset face. Delicately decorated around the exterior with conglomerations of deep red Fu-bat flying in all directions. Fu can be translated to mean bat, prosperity, good fortune, and can even delineate happiness. The glaze terminates slightly before the foot rim, showing a mixture of creme-colored clay and white glaze flecks left after the firing process. The clay is very fine, with a brilliant glaze finish that was applied by a meticulous craftsman.


Mark on base, a six blue underglazed script -KaiShu- characters enclosed within double fine rings, Made in The Years of YongZheng Reign Period of Great Qing.
