19th C. A Pair of Large Chinese Huanghuali book-shelf cabinets. Which is a dark golden-brown color, layered with the coffee-colored marbling. The cabinet has a fine grain pattern with medullary rays visible in the radial cut. The material is of medium density and has low resistance to decay. There are six boxed units that line the upper half and two large cabinets that make up the lower portion. Each cubby is bordered by intricately carved molding. There are two drawers located under the top left and right cubby. Sturdy construction, with brilliant joint work that connects the components together. A lace of wooden artwork makes up the cabinet door coverings, depicting flying Fu-bats. A sweeping apron extends from one front post to the other giving a certain elegance to the stance of the piece. Amazing craftsmanship is apparent in all the distinct details, polish, and construction.
