**First Time At Auction**
Ottoman Empire, Turkey, ca. 18th century CE. A beautiful prayer cloth embroidered with floral tendrils in complimentary blue, pink, white, green, and metallic gold threads that together outline the central form of an onion-domed mosque or minaret on the front. The verso is backed by a lime green silk panel with a cranberry red silk border that shows the reverse stitches of the embroidery. A beautiful example of the Ottoman decorative art tradition, rich in religious symbolism, and presenting a popular design also favored by carpet weavers. Size: 16" L x 10.5" W (40.6 cm x 26.7 cm)
