Description
"The First American Flying Clipper", a seven-page original manuscript typed on onionskin and signed by aviation pioneer Igor Sikorsky (1889-1972),relating the development of the S-40 "Flying Clipper" for Pan American Airlines, in cooperation with Colonel Charles A. Lindberg ca. 1930-31, and the subsequent first public flight from Miami to Panama, with Lindy at the controls. Boldly signed on the last page. Includes a 1979 letter from Sergei Sikorsky confirming this as his father's signature. (Interesting that the collector was the Vice-President of Maintenance and Engineering for American Airlines). Loose, in a folder, good condition.
