Description
A Bill of Sight for 120 Livres Tournois, interest due on money borrowed by the United States, signed by Francis Hopkinson (1737-1791), Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Bordentown, New Jersey. Hopkinson was Treasurer of the Continental Loan Office when he signed this on 8th November, 1779. The note is countersigned by John Lawrence (1719-1802), Commissioner of the Continental Loan Office in the State of Connecticut. Housed in a silver leaf frame, with three-window brown velvet mat, displaying the document with portrait engraving and brass tag above that reads "Francis Hopkinson, 1737-1791". 24" x 18". Very good condition.
