Description
"The Polynesian", Honolulu, Oahu (Sandwich Islands) Saturday March 23, 1850. Journal of the Hawaiian Government. Includes Notices regarding Foreigners having to give 14 days notice prior to departure, new laws restricting Natives being taken on board ships, and the French Outrage. In 1845, the Hawaiian Government purchased a printing press and The Polynesian newspaper. The Polynesian newspaper was a weekly paper that provided stories, but more importantly it provided government issues, laws and notices. The last issue of The Polynesian was printed on February 6, 1864, vol. XX, In pink molded frame, matted and glazed, OS: 29" x 23 1/2", SS: 21" x 15". Water stained, edge loss, not examined out of frame.
