Description
Iron, bamboo, paper and paint. Japan, Edo period
An iron battle fan used as a samurai’s weapon for selfprotection, used for the place where the samurai cannot be allowed to bring sword. Constructed of heavy iron ends with bamboo splays, original paper superimposed with a thin layer of linen and decorated in red hino maru design of rising sun and moon.
Condition: Good antique condition with expected subtle paper damages
