Description
after WILLIAM KENT (English 1685-1748) A GEORGE II STYLE GILTWOOD AND COMPOSITION MIRROR, LATE 19TH CENTURY, in the Baroque taste, the shaped corner, rectangular frame centering a wide beveled oval mirror plate, within a molded liner and a floret guilloché surround, crested by an oval cabochon shield and a scrolled volute canopy, issuing Prince of Wales feathers, and bead strands, festooned with beribboned swag held by flanking cherubs, within rose bloom, oak and acorn tendrils, the whole decorated in rose gold, matte, brilliant and tinted gilt paint on a gray ground. Height: 39 1/2" Width: 32" Depth: 7 1/2"
Condition
Some inpainting, mild surface wear and losses, some age spots on mirror plate, but overall in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
