AN ENGLISH ANGLICAN GILT BRASS EAGLE LECTERN, MID 19TH CENTURY, GREAT BRITAIN, the spread wing eagle holds a bible rest on it's back, standing on an orb engraved "The Exposition of the Word of God 14th December 1856," mounted with leafy sprays, over a lobed and ring turned socle, mounted with protruding beehive form bosses, over an enameled Gothic style, repeating, quatrefoils and Order of the Daughters of the Holy Cross emblems, bisected by a turned disc segment, over a standard with repeating enameled Signs of the Cross, raised on a cascading, turned socle with a band of repeating large beads, ending in a circular plinth with pierced, repeating Signs of the Cross, raised on the backs of recumbent lions. Height: 59" Width: 24 1/2" Depth: 26"

Some surface wear, a few losses of screws, and occasional mild dents, mostly near bible rest, an added wooden rest, and patina throughout, but overall in very good condition, wear commensurate with age and use.
