Description
1858 Political Party Leaders Thomas Jefferson Alexander Hamilton American Politics
“The most valuable of all talents is that of never using two words when one will do.”¬--Thomas Jefferson
Joseph Glover Baldwin was an American attorney and humor writer known for his first work “The Flush Times of Alabama and Mississippi: A Series of Sketches”, published in 1853, just a year before “Party Leaders” was published.
“Party Leaders” was written as a historical political satire. Baldwin specifies that his demographic target was young men in that time. It was meant to be a humorous collection of sketches on the rival leaders while maintaining historical and factual accuracy.
