Giltwood Overmantel Mirror in the Baroque Taste

fourth quarter 19th century, with a leaf-molded mirror plate surround, the pediment-form crest molded with pierced acanthus leaves and scrollwork, the corners decorated with scrollwork, leaves and grapes.

In "as found" condition. There is one face carving gone to the right side of the crest. Scattered chipping and flaking to the surface from age. Minor shrinkage to the corner joints. The surface slightly dirty from age but appears to retain mostly original gilding. Measures 61" at the widest part of the curls.
