A mid-Victorian pair of silver fish servers, ornately decorated throughout, having shell moulded terminals leading to an embossed handle with various sea animals including crabs and fishes upon a foliate textured ground, the fluted curved blade and pointed tines with similarly pierced and engraved decoration, both with presentation inscriptions verso. Hallmarked Chawner & Co (George William Adams), London 1869, handles dated 1868. Length of knife measuring 14 6/8 inches (37.2 cm).
Condition
In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. There is a slight gap between the join of handle on both pieces. The inscriptions reads 'Presented to the Worshipfull Company of Inn Holders by Mr William Pardy Master 1870'. The tines are slightly bent. Some dirt residue visible between the pierced decoration.
