Description
A group of 5 stunning Chinese brass buttons adorned with kingfisher feathers, 19th - early 20th Century, each with central depression containing two holes to fasten them to a garment, the flat rim around adorned with vibrant blue Kingfisher feathers. The artistic style of using iridescent Kingfisher feathers as decoration is called Tian-Tsui, and has been practiced in China for over 2000 years!!! Each about 10.5 mm in diameter. Ex estate of Maria (Lila) Decatur Mayo Deyo Garnett, niece of Ruth Deyo; Ex collection of Ruth Deyo, acquired early-mid 1900's. Mrs. Deyo was a world-renowned musician and personality, well-known for her appreciation of Egyptian culture.
