Description
Arthur Burdett Frost (American, 1851-1928) Style - A Tale in Thirteen Chapters. Eighteen original ink and pencil drawings, two signed and dated '91, to illustrate the story as published (possibly in Harper's Weekly), along with the published pages reproducing the drawings. In addition to the published drawings are a few related images or alternative versions not used. All are mounted in a gold-stamped Moroccan leather binding of the early 20th century, housed in a clamshell box. Note: Mr. Pippy, a still life painter has doubts about his work, and asks Prof. Slinger to criticize his painting. Prof. Slinger proceeds to completely repaint the picture as the horrified Mr. Pippy looks on Largest drawing: 8" x 10" Overall: 11.25" x 13"
