Description
Hashimoto Okiie (1899-1993) was a Japanese artist who received his degree from Tokyo University of the Arts in 1924. He then worked as a teacher until 1955 and worked as an artist in his spare time. While initially focused on the oil painting, he attended from 1936 three of Un'ichi Hiratsuka led woodcut courses and started to produce prints. This was at the same time the beginning of a lifelong friendship with Hiratsuka. In 1937, he was shown for the first time with a contribution to the Japan Print Association exhibition. In 1950 he participated in the last exhibition of kōshirō onchi initiated Ichimoku kai.
