Description
Gutta-Percha double union case with daguerreotype of a child violinist and on the opposite side two young girls with a doll carriage.
Housed in a velvet lined gutta percha union case signed "A. Schaefer".
Case on both sides is decorated with a trio of musicians at the piano (Kranik 143).
Circa 1860s.
Dimensions: 3.25" x 3.75".
Condition: good original estate condition, no repairs.
Provenance: Diana Tillson (New Canaan CT), pioneer music teacher for the Suzuki method of playing the violin. Her collection of early and rare children's books are now at the Cotsen Collection, Princeton University Library
