Item Details
Description
**Originally Listed At $300**

Central Asia, Bactria (Bactria Margiana / BMAC), ca. late 2nd to early 1st millennium BCE. A gorgeous alabaster goblet, standing on a low leg that broadens into a round foot. The straight sides of the goblet cut inward, leaving three raised rings at the rim, the base, and the center, and allowing the translucence of the alabaster to shine when placed near a light source. Alabaster vessels have been found in high status tombs from Bactria. For example, in the ancient city of Ai Khanum, at the confluence of the rivers Kokcha and Oxus in modern day Afghanistan, several alabaster vessels were found in the tomb of Kineas, the founder of the city. Size: 4.95" W x 3" H (12.6 cm x 7.6 cm)

Provenance: private Ventura County, California, USA collection
