1st-2nd century AD. A marble head of a lion from a frieze decorating a sarcophagus; large mane to the side, small ears to the top of the head; mouth open with teeth to the bottom jaw; architrave below head. 7.78 kg, 18cm (7"). Property of a Surrey lady; acquired by her father Christopher Terry in the late 1970s-early 1980s.
