Description
10th-12th century AD. A silver lamp with hemispherical body resting on a circular stand; raised gold band to the outer rim and to the base; outside body decorated with four gold crosses, set within four gold circles, separated by triangular latticed windows and defined by nielloed outlines; four applied suspension loops attached to chains comprising simple s-shaped links followed by decorative pieces, attached to a central distributor with knop and large hook. 362 grams, 48.5cm overall (19"). Property of a professional Austrian gentleman; part of his private collection since the 1990s. Accompanied by X-Ray Fluorescence metal analysis certificate number 00960-2018BL.
