Description
Magna Graecia, South Italic colonies, Apulian, ca. 340 to 325 BCE. A wheel-thrown pottery lekythos with a tiered foot, a piriform body, a rounded shoulder which tapers to a narrow tubular neck, a conical spout, and an applied strap handle. A series of fine-line linear bands adorn the body in a netted pattern, enclosed with solid black bands above and below, while thin vertical bars adorn the neck. The spout, handle arch, and foot base are colored with a reflective black glaze with some areas displaying faint silvery iridescence. Size: 5.7" H (14.5 cm).

Age-commensurate surface wear, minor nicks to body, foot, and handle, and fading to some pigmentation, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits, root marks, and silver iridescence in some areas.
