Description
Lone Star Dietz Oil on Board Western Painting Arizona. (William Henry "Lone Star" Dietz, PA 1884-1964). Signed lower left W.H. Dietz 1963. Depicting a desert landscape with a figure walking along a long winding storm fence. Titled on the reverse: "Arizona Storm Fence in Monumental Valley Arizona." "April 1963 Keams Canyon locale Arizona.". With an attached museum exhibition label. Painting size: 24" x 30". In its original wide natural wood cove molding with a white liner, 31" x 37" overall. William Dietz was a well known, albeit controversial, Native American football player and coach. He played under Coach Warner, coached Washington State to a win in the Rose Bowl, and was later head coach of the Boston Redskins whose team was named in his honor, and later became the Washington Redskins.
