1700s Original Engraving of Catherine de' Medici, Governor of Siena by Adriano Haluech - This stunning historical piece is an original 1700s engraving depicting Catherine de' Medici. Catherine de' Medici was born in 1593, and was the second daughter of Ferdinand I. de' Medici, who was the Grand Duke of Tuscany from 1587 to 1609. She was Duchess of Mantua and Montferrat as the second wife of Duke Ferdinando, and Governor of Siena from 1627. The piece depicts a portrait of Catherine de' Medici, half-length, turned to the right in an oval frame, wearing a gown with lace collar and pearl necklace and earrings; in a decorative setting with garlands and festoons, a lettered tablet and the impresa of a floral vase below. The piece was engraved by Adriano Haluech, and comes from the De' Medici family collection. The de' Medici Dynasty, which created the Italian Renaissance, symbolizes unparalleled historical contributions to art, politics, banking, cuisine, medicine, accounting, philanthropy, commerce, geography, agriculture, religion, textiles, and fashion.
