**First Time At Auction**
Jean (Hans) Arp (French-German-American, 1886-1966), an original woodcut from "Dreams and Projects", published in 1952 by Curt Valentin, New York, edition of 320, unbound, containing two sets of the twenty-eight woodcuts (one printed on Arches, the other on Japan paper). This is one of the woodcuts from one of the editions. Arp was best known for his biomorphic sculptures made from stone, bronze, and plaster; however, he also created wonderfully expressive paintings, works on paper, and poetry. His style was often referred to as organic abstraction, as is evident in this composition which conjures imagery of plants and the human body. Custom matted under glass and framed. Size: 14" L x 12" W (35.6 cm x 30.5 cm)

Condition
Frame shows some loss to metal facing but still functions. Woodcut in good condition. On the verso is a label from Ferdinand Roten Galleries, Baltimore, Maryland.
