Description
First Period of Worcester "Dr Wall" Bowl. Painted with the "Rock Strata Island" Pattern. Measures 8"x8"x3 1/2". Good condition. A pair of Worcester "Dr Wall" first period circa 1770 tea bowls "Fence pattern". Each 3"x3"x1 3/4" old chip to one lip. Open blue crescent mark on all three. Weight 1 pd 12 oz. PROVENANCE: A Private Williamsburg, VA Estate. The First Period of Worcester (1751-76) is sometimes called the Dr. Wall period after John Wall, one of the founders and major shareholders. During this period, Worcester was using the formula for soft paste porcelain which was obtained when they took over Lund's Bristol Porcelain works in 1752.
