Finely carved Italian walnut mythological fantasy cabinet, 19th century, having a broken arch pediment centering a lion rampant finial flanked by Athena, Hercules and a pair of draped meanads with trumpets, above carved griffins and dentil molding surmounting three doors, the center carved with a cartouche of a seated Enyo, sister of Ares, next to a lion, flanked by lion masks with putti above and below, framed by doors with shell carved niches, each containing a semi-nude standing sculpture, likely Orpheus and Eurydice, all doors opening to interior shelves and interspaced with fluted columns topped by Corinthian capitals, above a relief carved band of floral swags with grotesque masks, shells, and ribbons, held by ram's heads,surmounting a cabinet with four gadrooned frieze drawers above four doors each carved with one of the four classical River Gods, interspaced with angel and demon caryatids, the whole resting on a plinth base with a carved rinceau and rising on mask carved bracket feet, 102"h x 72"w x 28"d.
