Lot of 2 19th century Old Sleepy Eye blue gray stoneware crocks / bowls with bust of Old Sleepy Eye Native American Indian on front- salt crock with scroll work on reverse side, incised "E" on bottom, 4" H x 6 1/2" W. Hairline cracks, chips to base, exterior cracks to rim manufacturer' flaw; butter crock with bust of Old Sleepy Eye Native American Indian on front, campfire and teepees scene on reverse side, 5" H x 6 1/2" W. Brown flaked interior, scraps off easily. These production lines were premiums, advertising items and promotional pieces from the Old Sleepy Eye Milling Company of Old Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. The town's name and the company's distinctive trademark were taken from a Sioux Indian Chief, Old Sleepy Eye. Founded in 1883, the company continued in operation until 1921.
