Description
This impressive, antique, 19th century English architectural door pediment was hand crafted with England's armorial coat of arms. This piece is said to have been salvaged from the former home of Warren Hastings, who was the Governor General of Bengal (1773-84). It features a central medallion that is quartered, beneath a crown crest, and is flanked by a rearing horse and lion rampant. The lion is designed to peer down on the any visitors, so this piece would have been fitted above a tall doorway. It would be a wonderful accent on a modern building, over an important gate, or within a garden wall. It makes a most unusual accessory. DATE 19th century DIMENSIONS Width 46.5 Depth 7.5 Height 24 in.
