Description

Josef Scaylea (1913-2004) First edition book "Moods of the Mountain". The photo essay book documents the many changing moods and views of Mount Rainier. Published by Superior Publishing Company, Seattle,1967. This First Edition is dedicated and signed by Scaylea on the front cover page, dated 1/10/68. Measures 13-3/8" x 13.75" x 5/8" thick. Together with two signed large format black and white photographs, (mounted to cardboard, 16" x 19.75"). One depicting Mount Rainier from Lake Washington and one depicting horses in a misty landscape setting.
BIOGRAPHY NOTE: Josef Scaylea, was chief photographer for the Seattle Times. He was named West Coast Photographer of the Year 10 times, and named one of the 10 top Press Photographers of the Nation — also 10 times.
