Middle East, Islamic world, ca. 1000 to 1500 CE. A gorgeous 18K gold ring with a thick band and a flat, oval face inscribed with three lines of Kufic script. Kufic is the earliest form of Arabic calligraphy, used as the main script to copy the Qur'an until the 11th century. It was used on Seljuk coins and monuments as well as decorative items like this one. Size: .75" W x .875" H (1.9 cm x 2.2 cm); US size: 5.25; 8.3 grams
