Description
Greece, Archaic Period, ca. 6th to 5th century BCE. A child's toy in the shape of a boar or pig, hand-sculpted. He has small indentations for eyes, suggesting that he was once painted. He also has a slightly upturned nose, rounded ears, and a curly tail. He stands on four splayed feet. A hole drilled in the rear end was probably put in place to prevent this little piggy from breaking in the kiln. We believe that a toy like this was made for a toddler. Size: 3.2" L x 2.1" W x 2.45" H (8.1 cm x 5.3 cm x 6.2 cm)
