TITLE/CONTENT OF MAP: 'Leodiensis Episcopatus in omnes Subjacentes Provincias distincte divisus per Nicolaum Visscher Amst: Bat: cum Privilegio Ordinum Hollandiae et West-Frisiae [The Episcopate of Liege, divided into all its provinces by Nicolas Visscher, Amsterdam, with privilege of Holland and West Frisia]'
The map shows the Prince-Bishopric of Liège (Principauté de Liège), an Ecclesiastical state of the Holy Roman Empire. The map area covers present-day eastern Belgium and part of Germany west of the Rhine. The river Rhine runs across the northeast corner of the map, and the river Maas runs across the map from top centre-right toward the middle of the western edge of the map. The map covers the area from Antwerp in the northwest corner to Charleville-Mézières in the south west, Trier in the southeast and Bonn and Cologne in the northeast. Many other towns and cities are marked, including Brussels, Maastricht & Roermond
