Item Details
Description
1983 SOMEC Roccanti (14) speed bicycle with Campagnolo Cinelli parts. Gold Plated & Pantographed. Includes blueprint of frame and pump. Specs as follows: Seat tube: 53.5 cm. center to center, Top tube: 53.5 cm. center to center, Head tube: 12.25 cm. Standover: 79.5 cm., Stem: 12.5 cm., Crank arms: 172.5 mm., Handlebar width: 42 outside to outside. Below is the information from consignors family: This was specially designed by consignor's father. "The bike is in original condition except for the following items which I replaced:
- New Campagnolo brake cable housing (lined) and new Campagnolo brake cables.
- Genuine NOS Campagnolo world-logo gum hoods. These are not reproduction gum hoods.
- Period-correct Vittoria Corsa CX tubular tires - my all time favorite tubulars, pulled from my personal stash. These are used but in excellent, fully-rideable condition. Everything else on the bike is, as far as I can tell, original equipment. I should point out that I cleaned the bike, but I have not polished any components, nor have I filled in any of the pantographing. The paint that you see in the pantographing is the original paint from when this bike was first built almost 30 years ago.
The bike has very few miles on it. Most of the components look almost new. The gold plating is in outstanding condition. Naturally there are a few small spots where the plating is dull or corroded, or has worn off and the nickel plating below is visible. This is typical of gold plated frames that are almost 30 years old, no matter how well kept they are. This bike also has clear coat over the gold plating, and in some spots the clear coat is showing its age. But overall, the finish on the frame is in excellent condition".
