Description
Origin: Ottoman Empire, late 18th century.
Length – 46,8 cm.
A nice corresponding pair of Ottoman pistols in original holster.
Round smooth barrel with embossed line on the top, ending with front sight, faceted near the lock. Top of the barrel decorated with floral motifs and Islamic inscriptions. Wooden part nicely carved with geometric and floral forms and is richly inlaid with silver wire, forming geometric and floral ornaments. Flint lock in working condition, hammer and plate engraved with geometric ornaments. Brass plate in the opposite side than the lock, fixed with two iron screws. Handle and pommel with brass fittings, pommel decorated with embossed geometric ornaments. Silver plate, chiseled with geometric ornament and incrusted with red coral, on the top of the handle.
Condition report: Metal parts professionally cleaned, with small pitting from corrosion, some scratches. Locks in working condition. Brass parts with light patina, denser in dents. Brass plate on the opposite side of the lock of one pistol is broken. Wood naturally polished, with scratches and dents. Leather of the holster is worn off, but in stable condition. Bigger cracks only inside.
