Outstanding ca. 1910 platinum and diamond necklace. 60 European round cut diamonds each set in hand forged platinum surround bezel connected by half links. Diamonds graduated from center 6.5 mm x 3.5mm or approx 1 ct to end stones of .34 ct each. Diamonds approx. as follows 28 - 4 mm x 3.2 mm d or .34 cts, 12 - 4.5 mm x 3.2 mm depth or .42 cts, 14 - 5 mm x 3.2 mm d .52 cts, 5 - 5.5 mm x 3.5 mm depth .69 cts, and 1 - 6.5 mm x 3.5 mm depth 1 ct. Diamonds well matched color G - H VVS1. 17 1/4" long. Note that since these are old European round cuts they are not perfectly round and tend toward a thick cut. Replaced 14k w .g clasp. Approximately 27 carats total weight. Originally owned by the wife of Adolphe De Bary (1845-1928) Augusta Rawson Cecil. DeBary was son of Samuel Frederick DeBary who made a vast fortune importing Mumms Champagne to the United States. They later built a large estate in Florida , which is now a national historic place and the town of DeBary is named for the family. Necklace descending in family.
