Description
Middle East, possibly Ottoman Empire, ca. 19th century CE. An ornate ceremonial example of a khanjar, a type of curved dagger used throughout the Middle East. The J-shaped steel blade is set into a repousse tin and copper handle of broad half-moon form. One side of the handle has its face studded with colored glass. The sheath is made of similarly ornate repousse copper and tin, and fits neatly inside of the base of the handle. Size: 7.95" W x 24" H (20.2 cm x 61 cm)
