Chippendale mahogany block front desk having unusual block front lid over four recurring block front drawers set on bracket base, interior with blocked front and fluted pilasters, in original finish and original hardware, now with newer key lock in lid, Connecticut, circa 1770 (lid chips, low).

Provenance: Reputedly belonged to William Few Jr., one of the signers of the United States Constitution, descended through the Few, Chrystie Families.Col. Wm. Few (1748-1828) Lt. Colonel of Georgia Militia during Revolution 1776-1779, member of the Continental Congress 1780-1788, co-signer of the Federal Constitution 1787 as delegate from Georgia, member of Georgia Convention to ratify the Constitution of the United States 1788, one of the first two United States Senators from Georgia 1789-1793, and founder of the University of Georgia. Died in New York in 1828 visiting his daughter, Mrs. Chrystie Fishkill, New York.
