John Huxham was an 18th-century English physician and surgeon who is notable for his studies and treatises on fevers and airborne diseases. He published his ‘Essay on Fevers’ in 1750 which earned him considerable notoriety in the medical field. However, prior to his studies on fever, he published a work on the effects that weather has on various diseases, studies on lead poisoning, clinical medicine, and the effects of tartar in apples and cider.
