Pre-Columbian, Mexico, modern day Oaxaca, Puebla or Guerrero, Mixtec culture, ca. 1200 to 1500 CE. A tall and sturdy red-slipped terracotta vessel with a wide and extensively-burnished piriform body, a tapered neck with an encircling abstract geometric motif of wavelike and mountainous shapes, and a slightly flared rim. The lower half is a tall and hollow base which terminates at its junction with the upper body. The interior cavity displays the rich earthen hues of the non-slip-coated terracotta material. The piece as a whole is still quite desirable even despite the numerous missing areas. Size: 4.125" W x 9.75" H (10.5 cm x 24.8 cm).

Condition
Upper half repaired from several pieces, and several stable fissures are visible. Surface wear commensurate with age, multiple areas of loss to neck, base, and body, and fading to surface pigmentation. Mineral deposits and encrustations throughout.
