Description

We are fortunate to have several matching pair brass baggage tag sets in this auction. They are all the older "Depot" style tag with just the destination of the traveler. Note the different shapes for quick identification by employees. They are all matching pairs except one single. This set is #36 from Concord Junction Massachusetts. Concord Junction is know known as West Concord. Its name comes from the junction of the Fitchburg with the Old Colony line that ran from Framingham to Lowell. We always still call it Concord Junction (fine Italian wine shop & cool health food shop) and we just forget that everybody non-train calls it West Concord. The tracks met at 90 degrees right at the depot which is now a eatery. This early set has the name spelled out completely on two lines. We have another set that has Junction abbreviated to Jun, interesting that they kept the same shape for continuity.
