Description
Four Pieces of Utilitarian Stoneware, American and English, 19th and early 20th centuries, a canning jar with "wax sealer" rim and stenciled cobalt maker's mark, "A.P. DONAGHHO / PARKERSBURG, W. VA."; a squat-formed pitcher with Albany-slip-type glaze, circa 1910-1925; an ovoid salt-glazed jug, North Carolina origin, second half 19th century; and an ovoid jar with dipped iron-oxide wash, English origin, 19th century. Donaghho jar with shallow chipping to interior of rim and chips to inner rim for lid. Pitcher with a 1 1/2" chip to handle, probably in-the-firing, and a small in-the-firing contact mark to front. Jug with shallow chipping to base and a 2 1/8" flake to front. English jar with two thin, meandering cracks to body, one with two small associated surface chips, some crazing to surface, rim wear, a rim chip, and a glazed-over dent to rim.
