(TWAIN, Mark) - CLEMENS, Samuel (1835 - 1910). Harper's Monthly promotional broadside for "Stirring Times in Austria, Described by Mark Twain."[N.p.:] March, [1898]. Color lithograph on one sheet (395 x 310mm). Condition: creasess where folded, short split at one fold. promotional broadside depicting a bust portrait of twain. Stirring Times in Austria, Twain's feature regarding the political situation in that country, was a feature article in the Harper's Monthly of March, 1898, and was published in 1900 in The Man that Corrupted Hadleyburg. Twain writes, "There was a pervading, anxious hush--at least what stood very well for a hush in that House. It was believed by many that the Opposition was cowed, and that there would be no more obstruction, no more noise. That was an error."
