Pozzi is a painter whose painterly concerns extend to environmental art and actions. He teaches, writes, lectures. He currently divides his time between two studios: Hudson NY and Valeggio sul Mincio (VR) Italy. His work is in the collections of the New Mexico Museum of Art,[1] P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center; the Museum of Modern Art; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; the Art Gallery of Ontario; the New York Public Library; the Detroit Institute of Arts; Giuseppe Panza; the Fogg Art Museum; the Herbert and Dorothy Vogel Collection and the Whitney Museum of American Art.His awards include the National Endowment for the Arts".////////////////////This work is from the now closed restoration studio of Orrin Riley and Susanne Schnitzer. Orrin Riley was a world famous art restorer, who founded the conservation department at the Guggenheim Museum and ran it for 20 years. After leaving the Guggenheim, he opened a restoration business in the West 30's in NYC, and ran it until his death in 1986. Riley's girlfriend and business partner, Susanne Schnitzer, continued the studio until her untimely death from an automobile accident in 2007. From 2007 to 2017 the executors worked with the Attorney General for the State of New York, clearing title for all the works in the restoration business, so they could be sold. David Killen Gallery purchased the contents of the restoration studio, some 200 works of art, that were left behind that could not find owners. David Killen Gallery will be selling the 200 works over the next few years and they range from minor works of art to important pieces.David Killen Gallery does not guarantee works of art for authorship. We remove paintings, watercolors and drawings out of NYC estates and storage rooms in the NYC and tri-state area and they are sold as-is. Anyone unsure of the authenticity of any work of art sold in our auctions should consult an expert. This work is identified in the archival catalog of the Orrin Riley/Susanne Schnitzer studio, and a copy of the photograph and page from the archives will be included with this lot.
