Item Details

Description

Circa 1880s photograph depicting African American man with a medical deformity seated atop an early bicycle. The thin man's upper body is unusually stunted or shortened in comparison to the rest of his body. The bicycle appears to have hard rubber tires and an unusual lever brake attached to the handle bars. Approximate exterior dimensions of mount board are 4-3/16" X 6-1/2". Condition: soiling, toning, scuffs, edge bumps, light exposure.
