Item Details

Description

Circa 1880 Antique Cabinet Card Photograph; Family portrait of a man with a severe medical deformity to his face (perhaps a birth defect such as a cleft palate? or possibly an injury from war or accident). Despite his facial issue, he appears to have had a large family with at least 9 children at the time of this portrait. Pencil written identification on the reverse reads; "Uncle Frank Jeffrey's family". Tiny writing in negative at lower left area of portrait identifies photographer and appears to read; JC Packard Bros., Boston". Approximate mount size is 4-1/4" x 6-1/2". Condition: light soiling, occasional scuffs and edge wear. bottom left corner bend.
