The REAL GOLD MEDAL- actually the closest thing to it as the original Gold Medal was lost decades ago in the Ohio river. Presented is the lucky coin worn in the sock of Cassius Clay at the 1960 Olympics. This is the only known artifact of that historic gold medal victory. The "Good Luck" coin is made out of a base metal has the embossed words "Cassius Clay Olympic Bound 1960" lettered around the outside edge. The center has an embossed horse shoe and "GOOD LUCK". The reverse is plain with an embossed four leaf clover and "GOOD LUCK" in the center. Coin originates from the collection of Cassius Clay trainer Joe Martin of the Columbia Gym in Louisville. There is a tag attached to the token that reads "Lucky coin owned by Cassius Clay and worn in his sock at the 1960 Olympics. The reverse of the tag has Joe Martin's personal stamp. A Craig Hamilton letter of opinion states: "My research reveals that this was a coin owned by Cassius Clay as an amateur fighter prior to the 1960 Olympic Games. I cannot determine if Cassius Clay actually used the coin during his competition in the Olympic games but based on the tag put on the coin by Joe Martin that it is a possibility."
