BOOKS: Utamaro's Women Color Prints in Wooden Box, Works of Utamaro. Nine pages of text in English about the artist and works, remaining text is all in Japanese. No date, but after 1951. Hardcover. 7 x 10 inches. 114 text pages with black and white reproductions, with about 28 additional pages of black and white plates and 32 color plates finely printed on special paper, some erotic, including several double-page spreads and one double-gatefold spread. Cloth-bound hardcover with decorated endpapers, in wooden box with gold label, with original carton which is split at corners.

Provenance: Estate of Huguette Clark

Notes/Literature: Huguette Marcelle Clark (1906-2011) was an heiress and philanthropist, who became well known again late in life as a recluse, living in a hospital for more than 20 years while her mansions remained empty. She was an accomplished artist and musician, having studied under famous portrait painter Tadeusz Styka, and her paintings were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington in 1925
