The set is illustrated with a total of 18 bright color woodcuts, including the cover illustrations, by Japanese masters from the 16th through the 19th centuries, reproduced by modern masters of Japanese art. The prints are tipped onto white sheets which are tipped onto the pages.

Notes/Literature: Huguette Marcelle Clark (1906-2011) was an heiress and philanthropist, who became well known again late in life as a recluse, living in a hospital for more than 20 years while her mansions remained empty. She was an accomplished artist and musician, having studied under famous portrait painter Tadeusz Styka, and her paintings were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington in 1925.
