BOOKS: (2) Vols Women of Japan 1950 w/Woodcuts, Women of Japan, H. Felix Kraus Books, New York, 1950, volumes one and two. Hardcovers, 18 inches high x 12-1/4 inches wide. The set is illustrated with a total of 18 bright color woodcuts, including the cover illustrations, by Japanese masters from the 16th through the 19th centuries, reproduced by modern masters of Japanese art. The prints are tipped onto white sheets which are tipped onto the pages.
Provenance: Estate of Huguette Clark
Notes/Literature: Huguette Marcelle Clark (1906-2011) was an heiress and philanthropist, who became well known again late in life as a recluse, living in a hospital for more than 20 years while her mansions remained empty. She was an accomplished artist and musician, having studied under famous portrait painter Tadeusz Styka, and her paintings were exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery, Washington in 1925.

Condition
Good, glue discoloring white backing sheets, many sheets loose from pages, but prints are in good condition, be advised that all lots in this sale will exhibit some degree of wear due to age and/or handling
